**SEATTLE, WA** – A Hawaiian Airlines flight bound for Honolulu was forced to return to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) on Monday afternoon after the crew reported fumes in the cockpit. Flight HA21, an Airbus 330 carrying 273 passengers and 10 crew members, declared an emergency to ensure priority landing. The aircraft landed safely without incident, and all passengers and crew deplaned without injury.
Emergency medical and fire personnel met the plane at the gate as a precaution. A subsequent investigation by the Port of Seattle Fire Department found no evidence of smoke or unusual odors.
The airline spokesperson attributed the incident to fumes in the cabin, and the flight departed again on Tuesday morning using a different aircraft. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been contacted for further comment. This incident follows an unrelated in-flight altercation on another flight reported earlier, which involved a fight between passengers that was broken up by other passengers. This separate incident occurred on a Monday flight from Oakland to Kauai, video of which has been circulating online.
