**CHENNAI, January 1, 2025** – A 55-year-old fisherman, Sendhavar Balaramsan, drowned in Irumbuliyur lake on Wednesday, January 1st, 2025. His body was recovered by the Tambaram Fire and Rescue Services department.
According to a senior official from the Tambaram Police Commissionerate, Balaramsan, a resident of Irumbuliyur, had been fishing in the lake. He set his nets on Tuesday evening, December 31st, 2024, and fell asleep on a nearby plank. His body was discovered floating near his nets on Wednesday morning.
The Tambaram police contacted the Fire and Rescue Services, who retrieved the body. It has been sent to Chromepet Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Preliminary investigations suggest accidental drowning after falling from the plank.
