**New Delhi:** Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has escalated his attack on the BJP, accusing the party of widespread voter fraud ahead of the upcoming Delhi elections. In a letter to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Kejriwal questioned the organization’s stance on alleged BJP wrongdoing, including the alleged large-scale deletion of Dalit and Purvanchali voters from electoral rolls and the alleged distribution of money to buy votes.
Kejriwal’s letter, seen as a strategic move to put pressure on the BJP during the campaign, has sparked a war of words. The BJP has vehemently denied the allegations, with Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva responding with a letter criticizing Kejriwal for his “wrong habits of lying and deceit.” BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi dismissed the letter as a publicity stunt, urging Kejriwal to learn from the RSS’s “spirit of service.”
The AAP leader claims the BJP is employing “Operation Lotus” – a strategy alleged to involve manipulating voter lists – in his own constituency, citing a significant discrepancy between voter deletions and additions. He alleges that 5,000 names have been deleted and 7,500 added, questioning the legitimacy of the election process. Kejriwal further accused the BJP of planning to register individuals from outside Delhi as voters.
The BJP countered by pointing to a significant increase in voter numbers between previous elections, suggesting that AAP is attempting to manipulate the system by adding fraudulent names to the rolls. They accuse AAP of using fake documents to register ineligible voters.
Kejriwal has also warned election officials against succumbing to pressure from the BJP to commit irregularities, emphasizing the long-term consequences of such actions. This is not the first time Kejriwal has written to Bhagwat; a previous letter in September raised concerns about the BJP’s alleged misuse of central agencies. The ongoing conflict highlights the intense and increasingly acrimonious nature of the Delhi election campaign.
