**Chennai, December 30, 2024** – YouTuber T.T.F Vasan is facing scrutiny from the Forest Department after a viral video showed him with a pet python. The 25-minute video, uploaded on December 28th, depicts Vasan purchasing the snake, identified as a ball python, from a pet shop in Kovaipudur, Coimbatore.
Vasan claims to be an animal lover and purchased the snake to express this affection. While ball pythons are not covered under the Wildlife (Protection) Act of 1976 and are thus legally ownable if acquired through proper channels, the Forest Department is investigating the legality of the purchase. Chennai Wildlife Warden Manish Meena stated that they are verifying whether the seller possessed the necessary documentation. The investigation is ongoing.
