Mon Dec 30 15:13:21 UTC 2024: ## CITU Demands Action After Attack on Andhra Pradesh Official

**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – December 30, 2024** – The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has condemned the attack on Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO) Jawahar Babu in Galiveedu, Annamayya district, demanding swift and decisive action against the perpetrators. The union’s state president, A.V. Nageswara Rao, stated that attacks on government employees have become increasingly common, particularly following changes in government, citing a pattern of political harassment and intimidation.

Rao criticized the trend of newly formed governments targeting lower-level employees, creating a climate of fear. He urged the Andhra Pradesh state government to implement preventative measures to curb such violence, rather than simply offering condolences after the fact. The CITU emphasized that those responsible, regardless of political affiliation, should face severe punishment, and called for an end to both political harassment and the practice of dismissing junior employees with changes in government.
