Kochi, Kerala – MLA Uma Thomas is in critical condition after falling from a stage during a function. Police have arrested Krishna Kumar, owner of Oscar Event Management, the company responsible for organizing the “Mridanganaadam” event where the incident occurred.
Thomas suffered serious chest injuries and remains on a ventilator. Preliminary investigations by Palarivattom police suggest the stage was constructed unsafely by Oscar Events, lacking adequate barricades and safe passage. The stage was reportedly so cramped that even a single person could barely walk across the front.
Krishna Kumar, who also invited Thomas to the event, is currently being interrogated by police. A forensic team has inspected the scene and the police conducted a site inspection with the Public Works Department (PWD) to ascertain the structural safety aspects of the stage. The investigation is ongoing.
