**KURNOOL, December 30, 2024** – Strict restrictions have been imposed on New Year’s Eve celebrations in the undivided Kurnool and Anantapur districts to curb drunken driving and reckless behavior. Police in both districts announced a zero-tolerance policy for violations.

Superintendent of Police Adhiraj Singh Rana of Nandyal stated that any New Year’s events require prior police permission and mandatory CCTV installation. Loud music is prohibited after 10:30 PM, in accordance with Supreme Court guidelines, and DJs and fireworks are completely banned at outdoor events. Vehicle checks will begin at 10 PM on December 31st. Indecent dancing is also strictly prohibited. All wine shops must close by the stipulated time.

Similar restrictions are in place in Anantapur, where Superintendent of Police P Jagadeesh announced intensified patrolling and increased security, particularly in Anantapur town. Both districts warned of severe penalties for eve-teasing, unruly behavior, and bike stunts. Drunken driving will result in six months imprisonment, a ₹10,000 fine, and a three-month driving license suspension.

Superintendent of Police V Ratna of Sri Sathya Sai district added that bike racing, reckless driving, and tampering with silencers are also prohibited, with harsh penalties for offenders. Police urged parents to monitor their children and the public to report any anti-social activity. The overall goal is to ensure a peaceful and safe New Year’s celebration.
