**Kochi, Kerala:** Thrikkakara MLA Uma Thomas is in the ICU after suffering serious injuries in a fall from a gallery during a dance performance at the Kalur Stadium in Kochi yesterday. She is being treated at a private hospital in Palarivattom. Ms. Thomas sustained severe head and lung injuries and is under 24-hour observation, currently on a ventilator. While bleeding in her head is reportedly under control, her condition remains critical.
Police have launched an investigation into the stadium’s safety arrangements following the incident, citing insufficient security measures as a preliminary assessment. Witnesses reported that Ms. Thomas fell from a VIP pavilion approximately 10 feet high, hitting her head on the concrete floor.
