**Melbourne, Australia:** Nitish Kumar Reddy has etched his name in cricketing history during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In the fourth Test match against Australia, Reddy became the highest six-hitter in the series, and jointly holds the record for the most sixes hit by a visiting batsman in a Test series in Australia.
Reddy has smashed eight sixes in the series, equaling the record previously held by Michael Vaughan (2002-03 Ashes) and Chris Gayle (2009-10). This achievement makes him the first Indian to hit eight sixes in a Test series in Australia. One more six will secure him the outright record.
Reddy’s impactful performances throughout the series have captivated fans. He has scored 41, 38*, 42, 42, 16, and a magnificent century, showcasing his all-round talent. His century, achieved while batting at number 8, makes him the only Indian to reach this milestone in a Test match in Australia at that position. This century was also his first in Test cricket, achieved with 10 fours and a six, remaining unbeaten on 105 runs off 176 balls when play was stopped due to bad light.
Reddy has consistently provided crucial innings for India, especially during challenging moments. His unbeaten 105 in the Melbourne Test was another example of his ability to rescue the team from difficult situations. He has accumulated over 200 runs in the series, solidifying his status as a formidable all-rounder. India, however, faced a challenging position in the match after Australia posted a strong 474 runs in their first innings, thanks largely to Steve Smith’s 140 and contributions from Labuschagne (72) and Sam Conners (60). India’s batting struggled, with only Jaiswal (82 runs) offering significant resistance prior to Reddy’s heroics.
