**Los Angeles, CA** – Longtime Grammy Awards producer Ken Ehrlich is bringing viewers a double dose of Grammy nostalgia this weekend. CBS will air two two-hour specials showcasing the history of the awards show.
“Grammy Greats: The Stories Behind the Songs,” premiering Friday at 9 p.m. ET/PT, focuses on the winners of the Song of the Year award. The special features interviews with numerous artists including Billie Eilish & Finneas, Joni Mitchell, Dua Lipa, Sting, Elton John, and Bonnie Raitt, among others, discussing their award-winning songs and the stories behind them. Gayle King and country star Mickey Guyton co-host.
Following on Sunday at the same time slot is “Grammy Greats: The Most Memorable Moments,” a celebration of iconic Grammy performances and unique collaborations throughout the years. This special, co-hosted by Gayle King and Jimmy Jam, features segments highlighting memorable In Memoriam tributes and performances like Prince and Beyoncé’s collaboration. Ehrlich, who produced nearly every Grammy telecast from 1980 to 2020, curated both specials, conducting numerous interviews with the featured artists.
These two Grammy specials complete a trifecta of shows produced by Ehrlich for CBS this week, following a Christmas Eve Andrea Bocelli special. Ehrlich shared with Variety that while he’s produced multiple specials in the past, this is the most concentrated amount of content he’s aired in 25 years. He expressed his particular fondness for the Song of the Year special, emphasizing the personal stories behind the songwriting process and his deep connection to the featured artists and their work. The specials promise a trip down memory lane for music lovers, highlighting both well-known hits and lesser-known gems like Bonnie Raitt’s 2023 Song of the Year winner, “Just Like That.” Ehrlich hinted at the possibility of future specials covering the other major Grammy categories if these are well-received.
