**TIRUPATI, December 27, 2024** – The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) staged protests across Tirupati district today, condemning the recent hike in electricity tariffs. Led by district president and former MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, party leaders marched from Reddy’s residence to the A.P. Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) headquarters. While police prevented a demonstration outside the office, a delegation, including MP M. Gurumurthy and MLC Cipai Subramanyam, submitted a representation urging a tariff reduction.

Reddy criticized Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, accusing him of breaking a pre-election promise not to raise electricity prices. He stated that the hike places an undue burden on the public and denounced the TDP-led alliance’s attempts to portray the previous Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy regime negatively for political gain. Similar protests were held in Chandragiri, led by party in-charge Chevireddy Mohith Reddy.
