**CHICAGO, IL –** The Seattle Seahawks’ playoff hopes suffered a significant blow Thursday with the placement of their leading rusher, Kenneth Walker III, on injured reserve due to a high-ankle sprain. The injury, sustained in Sunday’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings, will sideline Walker for at least four games, effectively ending his season unless the Seahawks make an improbable deep playoff run.
Walker, a 2022 second-round pick, has been plagued by injuries throughout the year, previously missing games due to an oblique injury and a calf injury. In 11 games this season, he amassed 573 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.
Rookie George Holani has been promoted from the practice squad to fill Walker’s spot on the 53-man roster, backing up Zach Charbonnet, who will now take over as the Seahawks’ starting running back. The team also elevated cornerback Artie Burns.
Walker’s absence further weakens Seattle’s already struggling rushing attack, currently ranked 30th in the league. The Seahawks face a crucial game against the Chicago Bears Thursday night. A loss, combined with a Rams victory over the Cardinals, would eliminate Seattle from playoff contention.
