HYDERABAD, INDIA – Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has squarely blamed actor Allu Arjun and his team for a stampede outside a Hyderabad movie theatre that resulted in one death and serious injuries to a child. Following a meeting with representatives from the Telugu film industry, including Allu Arjun’s father, producer Allu Arvind, the Chief Minister stated that actors share responsibility for crowd control with the police.
The stampede occurred on December 4th during the premiere of Allu Arjun’s film “Pushpa 2: The Rise” at Sandhya Theatre. Eyewitnesses reported that although permission was not granted for Allu Arjun’s appearance, his team unofficially announced his presence, leading to a surge of approximately 3,000 people. The subsequent jostling, exacerbated by the actions of the actor’s security personnel, resulted in the tragic incident.
While Allu Arjun has denied being present at the theatre, both the Chief Minister and police maintain he was. The CM emphasized that actors must cooperate with law enforcement to manage crowds during public appearances, asserting that there will be “no compromise on law and order.”
Film producer D Suresh Babu, speaking after the meeting, expressed satisfaction with the discussions, stating that it was a “wholly satisfying meeting” where all parties openly voiced their concerns. He highlighted the Chief Minister’s positive approach to the situation. The meeting aimed to address the fallout from the incident, which has sparked significant political controversy.
