Thu Dec 26 23:13:01 UTC 2024: ## YSRCP Accuses Andhra Pradesh CM of Breaking Power Tariff Promise

**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh –** YSRCP leader and former Minister M. Nagarjuna has accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of breaking his promise to not increase power tariffs. Nagarjuna stated at a press conference on Thursday that the TDP government, under Naidu, increased tariffs within six months of taking office, burdening consumers with ₹15,485 crore and leading to frequent power cuts.

In contrast, Nagarjuna claimed the YSRCP government, while providing subsidies to DISCOMs, avoided raising tariffs for consumers. He highlighted that the YSRCP government provided ₹47,800 crore in subsidies to DISCOMs, exceeding the ₹13,256 crore provided by the TDP government. Furthermore, Nagarjuna stated that the YSRCP government cleared ₹8,845 crore in dues for free power to farmers, a commitment the TDP government allegedly failed to fulfill.

Nagarjuna vowed that the YSRCP would continue its fight to reverse the power tariff hike, alleging that Naidu made numerous electoral promises he failed to keep. He contrasted Naidu’s approach with that of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, whom he described as realistic in his promises.
