**New Delhi, December 27, 2024** – Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday in a courtesy call following the recent expansion of the state cabinet. The meeting, which lasted an hour, also included Mr. Shinde’s son, Lok Sabha MP Shrikant Shinde, and daughter-in-law.

Mr. Shinde subsequently met with Union Ministers Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and Kiran Rijiju. He emphasized that the discussions with PM Modi focused on Maharashtra’s development, not politics, highlighting the state government’s achievements over the past two and a half years. He reiterated the government’s ambition to make Maharashtra a trillion-dollar economy, aligning with the national goal of a $5-trillion India.

The Deputy CM also voiced his strong support for the “One Nation, One Election” bill, criticizing opposition parties, particularly the Congress, for their opposition. He argued that the initiative would save public funds and accelerate national progress.

Mr. Shinde’s visit to Delhi was a stopover before a family trip to Srinagar. The allocation of guardian minister posts within the BJP-led government remains a point of contention, with Mr. Shinde reportedly seeking the post for Thane and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar vying for Pune.
