**VISAKHAPATNAM, Andhra Pradesh –** The Communist Party of India (CPI) marked its centenary on Thursday with a rally in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The march, which began at the Alluri Sitharama Raju statue and concluded at RK Beach, saw a large turnout of party members and activists.
CPI State assistant secretary J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy addressed the gathering, highlighting the party’s historical role in India’s freedom struggle and its subsequent advocacy for social justice and democratic principles. Murthy emphasized the CPI’s early calls for complete independence and its instrumental role in establishing labor unions and securing legislation such as the Forest Rights Act and Right To Information Act.
He also expressed concern over the growing intolerance and rise of communal forces in the country, criticizing Home Minister Amit Shah for allegedly insulting B.R. Ambedkar in Parliament. The rally served as a call to action, urging party members to prepare for future struggles to protect democracy and secularism. Several senior CPI leaders participated in the event.
