**Chennai, December 27, 2024** – The Chennai City police have filed a case against members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for a controversial protest related to the recent sexual assault at Anna University. The ABVP staged a demonstration using a cloth dummy labeled “DMK,” alleging the ruling party’s weakness in addressing the issue. They attempted to bring the dummy to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) for a symbolic “treatment.”

Security personnel prevented the protest, which lacked necessary permission. A complaint from hospital authorities led to the filing of a case against ABVP state secretary D. Yuvaraj and G. Sridhar under three sections related to defamation and slanderous campaigning against the state government. Police are currently searching for the accused. The protest comes amidst ongoing outrage and demonstrations following the sexual assault case at Anna University.
