**Ongole, Andhra Pradesh – December 26, 2024** – Prakasam district police announced the arrest of Vemula Akhila, a Pamuru resident, for a November burglary in Kanigiri. Akhila allegedly stole gold ornaments worth approximately ₹12.5 lakh from the home of her relative, B. Venkata Ramana. Police recovered 25 sovereigns of gold from Akhila, who was apprehended at the Ongole RTC depot. The arrest followed an investigation launched after a complaint was filed by the victim’s family. Superintendent of Police A.R. Damodar stated that Akhila had observed the house keys hidden under the steps and exploited the family’s absence to commit the crime.
