Thu Dec 26 05:29:42 UTC 2024: ## Tamil Nadu Experiences Rainfall, But System Expected to Weaken

**Chennai, December 26, 2024** – Parts of Tamil Nadu, particularly in the north, experienced intermittent rainfall on Thursday, December 26th, 2024, due to a weakened low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, reported that the system, which was a well-marked low-pressure area on December 24th, has weakened.

Areas including Chennai (Villivakkam, Nungambakkam, Nandanam, Pallikaranai, Meenambakkam, and Ennore), Cuddalore, Ranipet, and Puducherry recorded light to moderate rainfall in the 24 hours leading up to Thursday morning.

The RMC forecasts that light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, will continue until Friday, December 27th, across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. This is expected to be the final spell of rainfall from this system before it moves away from the region. Isolated rainfall may occur in a few locations until the end of the month, with Chennai possibly experiencing partly cloudy skies and light to moderate rain until Friday.
