**Kalaburagi, Karnataka – December 26, 2024** – Advisor to the Chief Minister and Aland MLA B.R. Patil has called on the Karnataka state government to rename the Karnataka State Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University (KSRDPRU) in Gadag after Mahatma Gandhi. Mr. Patil made the appeal during a press conference in Kalaburagi on Wednesday, ahead of the centenary celebrations of the 1924 Belagavi Congress Session in Belagavi (December 26-27). He urged the government to consider the renaming during these commemorative events.

In addition to the renaming proposal, Mr. Patil also advocated for bridging the urban-rural divide across all sectors in the state. He reiterated his long-standing call for a nationwide ban on alcohol, suggesting that only a national-level prohibition could effectively address the issue of illegal liquor transportation between states, a problem that has hampered state-level bans in the past.
