Thu Dec 26 06:52:32 UTC 2024: ## Punjab Police Arrest Three Gang Members in Jalandhar Encounter

**JALANDHAR, PUNJAB (December 26, 2024):** Three associates of notorious gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria were apprehended by the Punjab Police in Jalandhar following a brief exchange of fire on Thursday. According to Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police made the arrests in a significant operation.

The encounter resulted in an exchange of approximately 15 rounds of gunfire, with police returning fire in self-defense. One of the arrested suspects sustained critical injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment. Police seized six weapons and a large quantity of ammunition from the suspects.

The DGP stated that this operation significantly weakens the Bhagwanpuria gang’s criminal network, which is allegedly involved in narcotics smuggling, arms trafficking, and extortion. The Punjab Police reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling organized crime and maintaining peace within the state.
