Wed Dec 25 21:20:10 UTC 2024: ## Pakistan to Co-Host 2025 ICC Champions Trophy

**Karachi, Pakistan –** The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the schedule for the 2025 Champions Trophy, a hybrid tournament co-hosted by Pakistan and Dubai. The tournament, featuring eight teams, kicks off on February 19th, 2025, in Karachi with a match between hosts Pakistan and New Zealand.

This marks a significant return for Pakistan to the international cricket stage, hosting a major ICC event for the first time since the 1996 World Cup. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed immense pride, highlighting the collaborative spirit between the PCB and the ICC in making this event a reality.

The tournament will see Pakistan host the majority of matches across Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, with each venue staging three group stage games. However, to ensure the safety and security of all participants, all matches involving India, including their opening game against Bangladesh on February 20th and their highly anticipated clash with Pakistan on February 23rd, will be played in Dubai.

The semi-finals are scheduled for March 4th and 5th, with the final set for March 9th. Should India reach the final, it too will be held in Dubai; otherwise, Lahore will host the championship match. Reserve days are in place for both semi-finals and the final.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah expressed his excitement for the upcoming tournament on X (formerly Twitter). The PCB Chairman emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to hosting a world-class event and welcoming teams with renowned Pakistani hospitality. The tournament promises to be a thrilling spectacle, with a mix of exciting matches and the unique atmosphere of both Pakistani and Emirati venues.
