**Jaipur, Rajasthan –** The death toll from a devastating tanker fire on the Jaipur-Ajmer Highway has risen to 19, officials confirmed on Thursday. Lalaram, 28, a security guard, succumbed to his severe burn injuries at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) hospital, bringing the total fatalities to 19. Eleven others remain hospitalized, with two or three expected to be discharged today.
The incident occurred on December 20th when an LPG tanker collided with a truck, resulting in a massive fire that engulfed a section of the highway. Initial reports indicated 11 deaths on the day of the accident, with four more succumbing to their injuries in the following days. Three additional deaths were reported on Wednesday.
Lalaram, who suffered 60% burns, was on his motorcycle to work when he became trapped in the inferno. His friend, Ramavtar, described him as a resident of Sanganer who recently relocated to Kanota.
The tragic accident highlights the devastating consequences of such incidents and underscores the urgent need for improved road safety measures. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
