Thu Dec 26 09:45:22 UTC 2024: ## Delhi LG Transfers 11 Police Officers Ahead of Assembly Elections

**New Delhi, [Date]** – Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena has ordered the immediate transfer of 11 Delhi Police officers, including several Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), in a major administrative reshuffle ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, expected in February 2024.

The transfers, announced in an official notice from the Police Establishment Board, involve key personnel shifts within various districts. For example, DCP Abhishek Dhania has been moved from North-West to East district, while Apporva Gupta moves from East to Crime district. The full list of transfers includes several other senior officers.

The timing of the transfers, just months before the crucial elections, has drawn attention. The elections are anticipated to be a key test for the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is seeking a third consecutive term. AAP has already nominated several senior leaders, including Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj, as candidates.

While the Congress has announced 47 candidates, the BJP is yet to declare its nominees. Currently, AAP holds 58 of the 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly, while the BJP holds the remaining seats. The Congress has failed to secure any seats in recent elections. Despite both parties being part of the INDIA bloc, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal has repeatedly ruled out any alliance with the Congress.
