**PERAMBALUR, Tamil Nadu –** The 2024-2025 sugarcane crushing season commenced on Thursday at the Perambalur Sugar Mills Limited in Eraiyur. Transport Minister S.S. Sivasankar officially inaugurated the season, joined by District Collector Grace Pachuau, mill CEO Ramesh, and other officials and local representatives.
The mill aims to crush two lakh metric tonnes of sugarcane, targeting a recovery rate of 9.75%. The season is scheduled to conclude on March 18, 2025. A press release noted that ₹71 crore has already been paid to farmers for the previous season’s (2023-2024) cane without any outstanding dues.
