Wed Dec 25 15:02:38 UTC 2024: ## Tulsi Puja Celebrated on Christmas Day

**New Delhi, December 25** – Hindus across India today celebrated Tulsi Puja, a significant religious observance dedicated to the sacred Tulsi plant, coinciding with Christmas Day. The Tulsi plant, considered an embodiment of Goddess Lakshmi, holds immense religious and cultural importance.

According to Hindu scriptures, daily worship of the Tulsi plant, including offering water, is believed to bring prosperity and well-being to the household. The ritual is not merely a religious practice but also carries social and familial significance.

Today’s celebration marked the Dashami Tithi of the Krishna Paksha in the Hindu month of Pausha, with the auspicious time for puja falling between December 24th evening and December 25th night. Devotees followed traditional practices, including bathing, wearing red clothes, decorating the Tulsi plant, offering water, chanting prayers, and offering flowers, fruits, and sindoor. Lighting a lamp before the plant is considered crucial, ideally daily.

The Tulsi plant is believed to be a sacred dwelling place for Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu, and its worship is considered integral to any Hindu religious ceremony. Furthermore, consistent Tulsi Puja is believed to bestow blessings and even ensure a place in heaven after death, while protecting devotees from negative energies.
