THOOTHUKUDI, Tamil Nadu – Three men were killed and two injured in a hit-and-run accident on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, in Thoothukudi district, Tamil Nadu. The victims, all friends from Tirupur district, were traveling in a van to Tiruchendur temple after visiting temples in Swamimalai and Thanjavur. The driver, Selvaraj (38), pulled over due to fatigue when their stationary van was struck by a speeding, unidentified vehicle around 1 a.m.
Selvaraj and two passengers, Vignesh (31) and Vijaykumar (38), died at the scene. Two other occupants, Mahesh Kumar (35) and Rajkumar (34), sustained injuries and were admitted to Ettayapuram Government Hospital.
Ettayapuram police have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle responsible. A case has been registered.
