Wed Dec 25 15:28:06 UTC 2024: ## Telangana Unveils Ambitious Clean Energy Policy to Meet Soaring Demand

**Hyderabad, December 25, 2024** – Telangana is poised to launch a new clean and green energy policy aimed at sustainably meeting its rapidly growing energy needs. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramaraka, who also holds the energy portfolio, announced the initiative, citing projections of a dramatic increase in power demand. The state’s peak power demand is expected to surge from 15,623 MW in 2023-24 to 20,968 MW by 2027-28 and a staggering 31,809 MW by 2034-35. Similarly, energy consumption is projected to rise from 85,644 million units (MUs) to 115,347 MUs and 150,040 MUs over the same periods.

To address this escalating demand, the Telangana government has set a target of adding 20,000 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. The new policy aligns with the state’s commitment to clean energy and supports national sustainable power development goals.

A stakeholders’ convention is scheduled for January 3, 2025, at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), to discuss the policy’s implementation strategies. The event will bring together key stakeholders from across India.
