Tue Dec 24 16:43:26 UTC 2024: ## Israeli Forces Evacuate Gaza Hospital, Raising Concerns Amid Ongoing Conflict
**GAZA CITY, December 24, 2024** – The ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine escalated further today with the forced evacuation of the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza by Israeli troops. The hospital, one of the few still functioning in the war-torn region, was emptied of patients, some of whom were forced to walk miles to reach another hospital in Gaza City.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the Israeli army ordered the evacuation on Monday, subsequently storming the hospital early Tuesday morning. This action follows similar incidents at other medical facilities in northern Gaza, including Al-Awda and Kamal Adwan Hospitals, which have also faced repeated Israeli attacks.
Israel claims its operations in the area, which includes Beit Lahiya, Beit Hanoun, and Jabaliya, target Hamas militants. However, Palestinians accuse Israel of attempting to depopulate northern Gaza to create a buffer zone, a claim Israel denies.
Hospital officials at the affected facilities have consistently resisted Israeli orders to evacuate patients since the beginning of the offensive on October 5th. Despite Israel’s claims of facilitating medical supplies and patient transfers, hospitals report significant damage to infrastructure, including generators and oxygen pumps, due to Israeli fire.
Today’s violence also saw at least nine Palestinians killed in separate Israeli strikes, including a member of the civil emergency service. The ongoing conflict, sparked by Hamas’ October 7th attack on southern Israel, has resulted in over 45,200 Palestinian deaths and widespread displacement, according to Gaza health officials. Mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States continue, though a breakthrough remains elusive. While both Israeli and Palestinian officials have indicated narrowing gaps in ceasefire negotiations, significant differences persist.
