Tue Dec 24 19:42:55 UTC 2024: ## Delhi High Court Seeks Police Response on Tahir Hussain’s Bail Plea
**New Delhi, December 25, 2024** – The Delhi High Court has directed the police to respond to a bail plea filed by Tahir Hussain, a former Aam Aadmi Party councillor, who is accused in the murder of Intelligence Bureau employee Ankit Sharma during the 2020 Delhi riots.
Hussain, who has been in jail for four years and nine months, challenged a trial court’s December 3rd rejection of his bail application. His petition argues that a significant portion of the trial remains, with only 20 of 114 prosecution witnesses examined so far. He further points out that co-accused allegedly involved in the same riot and murder have already been granted bail by the High Court.
The prosecution’s case centers on the February 26, 2020, disappearance of Ankit Sharma, reported missing by his father. Sharma’s body was later found in a drain with 51 injuries. Hussain is one of the accused in the case. The High Court’s response to Hussain’s bail plea is awaited.
