Wed Dec 25 12:07:50 UTC 2024: ## Mohanlal’s ‘Barroz’ Receives Mixed Reviews: Visual Spectacle Marred by Script Flaws

**Kochi, [Date]:** Mohanlal’s directorial debut, “Barroz,” a 3D animated film released on Christmas Day, has garnered mixed reactions from audiences. While the film’s stunning visuals and animation are receiving widespread praise, critics point to shortcomings in the script.

Described as a children’s film, “Barroz” boasts impressive 3D animation work, making it a visual treat according to viewers. The art direction by Santosh Raman is also being lauded. The film, a big-budget production by Aashirvad Cinemas in association with Navodaya, features a star-studded cast including Spanish actors Paz Vega and Rafael Amargo, alongside Mohanlal himself. Vega plays the wife of Vasco da Gama, portrayed by Amargo.

However, the film’s script, initially penned by Jijo Punnoose and later reworked by T.K Rajeev Kumar and Mohanlal, is facing criticism for perceived flaws. The film’s cinematography is handled by Santosh Sivan.

Despite its mixed reception, “Barroz,” initially announced in April 2019, has been dubbed into Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada languages, signaling a pan-Indian release strategy. The film is based on a story by Jijo Punnoose, who also directed India’s first 3D film, “My Dear Kuttichathan.”
