Wed Dec 25 15:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Jharkhand Braces for Cold Snap After December 28
**Ranchi, Jharkhand:** A cold wave is expected to sweep across Jharkhand, including Ranchi, after December 28, according to the Meteorological Department. Following rain in Palamu and surrounding districts, a surge of cold northerly winds will bring a significant drop in temperatures, leading to increased nighttime chill.
While the next three days are forecast to see little temperature change, with only light fog in the mornings, a western disturbance is predicted to bring rain to several districts – Garhwa, Palamu, Latehar, Chatra, Koderma, Lohardaga, and Gumla – on December 28. This western disturbance will impact weather across the plains of India, with its effects reaching Jharkhand after the 27th.
Meteorologist Abhishek Anand stated that while the weather will remain clear for the next three days, the western disturbance will bring rain, subsequently causing a temperature drop across the state, including Ranchi. On Tuesday, Ranchi experienced partly cloudy skies with a slight decrease in minimum and maximum temperatures. Ranchi’s maximum temperature reached 24.8 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 11.2 degrees Celsius, about two degrees above normal. Latehar recorded the lowest maximum temperature at 19.1 degrees Celsius.
