**Mumbai, India –** Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli, hospitalized in Aakriti Hospital, Bhiwandi, Thane, due to a urinary tract infection and subsequent complications, has received significant financial assistance. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde contributed ₹5 lakh (approximately $60,000 USD) to Kambli’s medical expenses. Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Shrikant Shinde also announced a personal contribution of ₹5 lakh.
Kambli, 52, was admitted to the hospital on December 21st after his condition worsened. Doctors reported that he developed a fever on Tuesday, but his condition remains stable. While an MRI was initially planned, it has been postponed due to the fever. Doctors are monitoring him closely and expect him to be moved out of the ICU within a day or two, with a potential discharge in about four days.
According to Dr. Vivek Trivedi, leading Kambli’s medical team, the cricketer’s blood pressure fluctuated upon admission, and his condition was critical due to the severity of the infection. However, his condition has shown significant improvement since then. The Deputy Chief Minister personally contacted the hospital to ensure Kambli receives the best possible care.
