Tue Dec 24 12:13:14 UTC 2024: ## Punjab Farmer Leader’s Hunger Strike Enters 29th Day

**Chandigarh, December 24, 2024** – Jagjit Singh Dallewal, a prominent Punjab farmer leader, continues his hunger strike, now in its 29th day. The 70-year-old is protesting at the Khanauri border point, demanding the central government guarantee minimum support prices (MSP) for agricultural produce. His health has deteriorated significantly, prompting doctors to recommend hospitalization.

Despite his weakened condition, Dallewal addressed fellow farmers, urging unity in their fight for MSP. He stated, “We have to win this battle. This battle will be won only if the whole country fights unitedly.” He vowed to continue his protest until the government meets their demands. Fellow farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohar clarified that while Dallewal’s physical strength is waning, his spirit remains strong.

The farmers, under the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, have been staging protests at the Punjab-Haryana border since February 13th, after their march to Delhi was blocked. Dallewal’s hunger strike began November 26th, and multiple attempts by groups of farmers to march to Delhi have been thwarted. The situation remains tense as the farmer leader’s health continues to be a major concern.
