Tue Dec 24 14:12:24 UTC 2024: ## Udupi MLA Announces Steel Bridge to Ease Traffic Congestion at Kalsanka Junction
**Udupi, December 24, 2024** – To alleviate growing traffic congestion in Udupi, MLA Yashpal Suvarna announced plans to construct a steel bridge at the Kalsanka Junction. The bridge will facilitate a free left turn from Udupi city towards Gundibail, thereby reducing congestion on the Udupi-Manipal highway.
Speaking at a City Municipal Council (CMC) meeting on Tuesday, Suvarna instructed CMC officials to immediately prepare a cost estimate for the project. He clarified that the bridge, which can be quickly erected, will initially accommodate only light motor vehicles. Suvarna acknowledged that ongoing developmental projects are contributing to the current congestion, but assured that the situation will improve.
Council members raised concerns about worsening traffic at several locations, including the Karavali Bypass, City Bus Stand, and Kalsanka Junction, citing the ongoing National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) work on a vehicular overpass at Ambalapady Junction as a major contributing factor. They also called for the removal of traffic signals at various intersections to improve flow. The CMC vice president, Rajani Hebbar, Municipal Commissioner (additional charge) Udaya Shetty, and other officials were present at the meeting.
