Tue Dec 24 17:21:48 UTC 2024: **India Women Dominate West Indies in Vadodara ODI**

VADODARA, INDIA – Harleen Deol smashed a maiden international century (115) to power India to a commanding 358/5 against West Indies in the second ODI at the Kotambi Stadium. The impressive total followed a strong 314/9 in the previous match.

Deol’s innings was the highlight of a dominant batting display, but she wasn’t alone. Smriti Mandhana (53), Pratika Rawal (76), and Jemimah Rodrigues (52) all contributed half-centuries in a devastating team performance. Rodrigues and Deol shared a blistering 116-run partnership off just 71 balls.

Rawal, playing only her second ODI, impressed with her aggressive batting, showcasing impressive cover drives and powerful punches. Mandhana, already the highest run-scorer in women’s ODIs this year, continued her strong form, bringing up her second consecutive half-century in the series.

The Indian openers put on another century stand before a mix-up led to Mandhana’s dismissal. Despite Harmanpreet Kaur’s early departure, India’s late-order hitting ensured a substantial total, scoring 184 runs in the final 20 overs.

West Indies’ bowling was inconsistent, and their fielding was poor, offering little resistance to India’s relentless attack. A dropped catch by Dendra Dottin when Deol was on 20 proved especially costly. West Indies will need a significant improvement in both bowling and fielding to have any chance of winning the match. The series is currently tied at 1-1.
