**Kozhikode, Kerala – December 24, 2024** – The seven-day National Tribal Festival, ‘Nerathinka-24’, commenced today at the KIRTADS campus in Chevayur, Kozhikode. The festival, inaugurated by Minister O.R. Kelu, will showcase the diverse art, culture, food, literature, and handicrafts of tribal communities from across India.

Representing states such as Kerala, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, the festival features a range of events. These include the ‘Uchal’ ethnic food festival, highlighting cuisines from tribes like the Kani, Vettakkurumar, Kurichya, Koli Mahadeva, Thoda, and Oron; the ‘Nera Bare’ art festival; the ‘Bellibane’ tribal literary camp; a tribal medicine camp; and a tribal dance festival. A special focus will be on the preparation of tubers found in the Western Ghats.

The festival, open to the public from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily until December 30th, is expected to attract a large number of visitors. Mayor Beena Philip presided over the opening ceremony.
