Tue Dec 24 11:40:11 UTC 2024: ## Bihar BPSC Exam: Re-exam Ordered, Cancellation Ruled Out Amidst Protests

**Patna, Bihar, December 24, 2024** – The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has rejected calls to cancel its 70th Integrated Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) held on December 13th, despite allegations of a question paper leak and widespread protests. Instead, the commission announced a re-examination for approximately 12,000 candidates who took the exam at the Bapu Pariksha Parisar center in Patna, where irregularities occurred. This re-examination is scheduled for January 4th, 2025, at a different location.

The decision follows the cancellation of the preliminary examination at the Bapu Pariksha Parisar center after an official died of a heart attack amidst a disruption caused by unruly candidates. The BPSC chairman attributed the disruption to a conspiracy to sabotage the exam. Thirty-four candidates allegedly involved in the disruption have received show-cause notices and are required to respond by December 26th.

Protests demanding the complete cancellation of the exam have persisted for several days at Gardani Bagh, led by a group the Patna District Magistrate claims are mostly non-examinees. These protests have involved alleged harassment of medical staff and property damage at a local hospital. Three individuals involved in the protests are currently receiving treatment at PMCH. Independent MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav has publicly supported the protestors, while the Patna District Magistrate has accused coaching institutes of instigating the protests for political reasons. The BPSC, however, maintains that only the exam at the affected center will be re-evaluated.
