Mon Dec 23 22:42:40 UTC 2024: **Andhra Pradesh Aims for Top Spot in Municipal Infrastructure**

Guntur, Andhra Pradesh – Andhra Pradesh Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, P. Narayana, announced an ambitious three-year plan to overhaul the state’s municipal infrastructure, aiming to make it the best in the country. Speaking at a state-level workshop on Monday, Mr. Narayana stated that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s vision is to provide all basic amenities – including drinking water (135 liters per person per day), drainage, waste management, streetlights, and roads – to all urban residents within three years.

Detailed plans for these initiatives will be finalized by January, the Minister added. He criticized the previous administration for delaying infrastructure projects due to a failure to provide matching funds for central government schemes. To improve efficiency, municipal funds will be directly allocated to municipalities starting next April.

The workshop, attended by senior officials from across the state, emphasized collaboration and accountability in achieving these ambitious targets. The state government aims to establish Andhra Pradesh as a model for municipal excellence in India.
