KUWAIT CITY – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the first visit by an Indian PM to Kuwait in 43 years, met with several influential figures, including Shaikha A J Al-Sabah, founder of Kuwait’s first licensed yoga studio, Daratma. Their discussion focused on promoting yoga, particularly among young people, and fostering healthier lifestyles through yoga and meditation.
The Prime Minister also met with Fahad Ghazi Alabduljaleel, President of the Kuwait Heritage Society. Modi praised Alabduljaleel’s work preserving rare manuscripts and artifacts, highlighting the historical connections between Kuwait and India, including family links between Alabduljaleel’s ancestors and several Indian cities.
During his visit, Modi was also awarded Kuwait’s highest honor, the Order of Mubarak Al-Kabeer, for his contribution to strengthening bilateral relations. The meetings underscored the growing people-to-people connections between India and Kuwait, focusing on shared cultural interests and promoting wellness initiatives.
