Mon Dec 23 14:06:52 UTC 2024: ## Mysuru MP Joins Farmers’ Rally, Highlights Government Support on National Farmers’ Day
**Mysuru, December 23, 2024** – National Farmers’ Day was observed in Mysuru on Monday with a rally and celebrations organized by the Federation of State Farmers’ Organisations and the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (Raitha faction). The event, marking the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, saw farmers from across the state converging on the Town Hall, many arriving in traditional bullock carts.
Member of Parliament for Mysuru, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, inaugurated the event and participated in the festivities, even taking a bullock cart ride with the farmers. Wadiyar highlighted various government initiatives aimed at farmer welfare, including the Kisan Samman Yojana, which provides quality seeds and fertilizers, and the establishment of farm research centers. He also expressed concern over soil degradation from excessive fertilizer use in ginger cultivation, advocating for the use of neem compost.
However, a note of discontent was struck by KRRS (Raitha faction) President Ingalaguppe Krishne Gowda, who criticized the absence of political leaders, including the Chief Minister, at the event. Gowda lamented the lack of attention paid to farmers’ issues and announced that next year’s National Farmers’ Day would be held in Belagavi. He further urged the government to officially recognize and celebrate National Farmers’ Day, emphasizing the crucial role farmers play in the nation’s food security. The celebrations included a festive procession from Gun House Circle to the Palace.
