Mon Dec 23 12:40:36 UTC 2024: ## Epigamia CEO Rohan Mirchandani Dies Suddenly at 42, Sparking Debate on Work-Life Balance

**MUMBAI, INDIA** – Rohan Mirchandani, the 42-year-old CEO of popular Greek yogurt company Epigamia, passed away on December 21st from a cardiac arrest, prompting renewed discussion about the pressures faced by entrepreneurs and the importance of work-life balance in the startup world.

Mirchandani, who founded Epigamia’s parent company Drums Food International in 2013, built the company into a major player in the FMCG sector. In just a decade, Epigamia achieved a valuation of approximately $160 million and nearly 6% market share, making it the third largest in its segment. Mirchandani, who held a significant stake in the company (around 4.68%), recently projected revenue to reach ₹250 crore (approximately $30 million USD) by FY25.

Following his death, Epigamia confirmed that operations will continue under the leadership of co-founders Ankur Goel and Uday Thakker. A spokesperson for Drums Food expressed deep sorrow and pledged to carry forward Mirchandani’s vision.

Mirchandani’s passing follows the recent deaths of other startup founders from cardiac arrest, highlighting concerns about the intense stress associated with entrepreneurship. A recent report by mental health startup YourDOST emphasized the high levels of imposter syndrome experienced by entrepreneurs, especially in the early stages of their ventures. This tragic event underscores the ongoing debate surrounding the need for a healthier work-life balance within the demanding startup culture.
