Mon Dec 23 15:11:45 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka Minister Calls for Legislative Council Chairman to Adjudicate Ravi-Hebbalkar Row

**Mysuru, December 23, 2024** – Union Minister of State V. Somanna has urged the Chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council to resolve the controversy surrounding BJP leader C.T. Ravi’s alleged derogatory remarks against Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar. Somanna, speaking to reporters on Monday, stated that the Chairman should rule on Ravi’s conduct, as the remarks were made during the recent legislative session. He emphasized that any decision made by the Chairman regarding Ravi’s actions would be accepted.

Somanna criticized Ravi’s arrest, suggesting the media played a crucial role in preventing a worse outcome. He also lamented the alleged “revenge politics” in the state, questioning the silence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister G. Parameshwar on the matter. The Minister further accused the Congress government of mismanaging the state’s finances and resorting to misleading tactics to deflect attention from its shortcomings.

In response to protests against Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Somanna defended Shah, dismissing the Congress party’s reaction as “immature.” He argued that the Congress lacked the moral authority to invoke Ambedkar’s name, claiming the BJP government had implemented numerous development programs inspired by Ambedkar’s vision.
