Sat Dec 21 14:15:02 UTC 2024: ## Landslide Closes Dharchula-Tawaghat-Lipulekh Road in Uttarakhand

**PITHORAGARH, INDIA –** A major landslide has temporarily closed the Dharchula-Tawaghat-Lipulekh road in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district. The incident, which occurred around 11 a.m. near Tawaghat, caused no casualties, according to District Magistrate Vinod Goswami.

The landslide is believed to have been triggered by debris from a nearby road construction project above the main thoroughfare. Officials from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Dharchula office and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) are currently on-site working to clear the debris and reopen the road, which connects to the India-China border at Lipulekh. The DM expects the road to be reopened shortly.
