**Jaipur, Rajasthan:** The death toll from a gas tanker explosion in Jaipur, Rajasthan, has risen to 14, authorities confirmed Saturday. Over 30 others remain hospitalized with injuries sustained in the incident, which occurred near the National Bearings Company Limited.
The tragedy has been compounded by a viral video showing a burning man struggling to stand after the blast. The victim, identified as Radheshyam Choudhary, a motor mechanic, reportedly walked approximately 600 meters while engulfed in flames, desperately seeking help. Witnesses reported that instead of assistance, many onlookers filmed the scene.
Choudhary’s brother, Akharam, recounted the horrifying experience to The Times of India. Awakened at 5:50 AM by a stranger, Akharam rushed to the scene to find his brother severely injured. Despite Choudhary’s pleas for help and the desperate struggle, Akharam said bystanders prioritized filming over providing assistance. Unable to wait for an ambulance due to heavy traffic, Akharam and neighbors transported Choudhary to the hospital. While initially conscious and communicative, Choudhary succumbed to his injuries, suffering 85% burns.
The incident has sparked outrage and prompted a response from Rajasthan’s Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, who expressed concern and demanded action from the government. Investigations into the cause of the explosion are underway.
