**VISAKHAPATNAM, December 21, 2024** – The Visakhapatnam Bench of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) celebrated its 25th anniversary on Saturday. The silver jubilee celebrations, organized by the ITAT Bar Association, were attended by Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, who lauded the Tribunal’s service.

Established in 1997, the Visakhapatnam Bench holds jurisdiction over seven Andhra Pradesh districts, from Srikakulam to Guntur. Initially operating from the Super Bazaar Building, the Bench relocated to its current location in the LIC Building in 2007.

Justice (retired) C.V. Bhadang, ITAT president, highlighted the Tribunal’s role as a quasi-judicial body responsible for adjudicating direct tax appeals since its inception in 1941. He emphasized that ITAT decisions are binding, with High Court appeals only permissible on substantial questions of law.

The event was also attended by ITAT officials, representatives from the Income Tax Department, and members of the Bar Association.
