**New Delhi, December 22, 2024** – Delhi Police have identified 175 individuals suspected of being illegal Bangladeshi immigrants during a 12-hour verification drive in outer Delhi on December 21st. This operation, part of a larger two-month initiative ordered by the Delhi LG Secretariat, involved door-to-door checks, document scrutiny, and interrogations. Police teams are verifying the individuals’ identities, contacting local authorities in their purported hometowns to authenticate claims.

This latest operation follows a December 11th crackdown, where police apprehended two suspected illegal immigrants and identified over 1,000 others. The total number of suspected illegal Bangladeshi immigrants identified across Delhi since the start of the initiative is now estimated to be over 1,500. The identified individuals are being processed for deportation through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). The police are also verifying the authenticity of Aadhaar cards presented. The ongoing operations target slums and areas known for high migrant populations.
