**Hyderabad, [Date]:** Borabanda police have arrested a couple for the murder of an auto-rickshaw driver, whom they suspected of kidnapping their daughter. The couple, a car driver and his wife from NTR district, lured the victim, Kumar (30), into a honey trap using Snapchat.
Police investigations revealed that the couple’s daughter, a seventh-grade student, had met Kumar and spent time with him in a room in Yousufguda last year. After escaping a suspected sexual assault attempt, she was found by Balanagar police and sent to a children’s home. Believing Kumar had kidnapped their daughter, the parents tracked him down using Snapchat messages found on their daughter’s laptop.
The parents then lured Kumar to Miyapur under the guise of a date. They subsequently assaulted him, and fearing discovery, took him to Suryapet district. They tied a large stone to his limbs and threw him into the Nagarjuna Sagar left canal, resulting in his death.
Kumar’s disappearance in March 2023 was reported to Borabanda police. The case took a turn when the victim’s auto-rickshaw was spotted being used by the car driver, leading police to the couple. DNA tests on unidentified remains found in Suryapet confirmed Kumar’s death. The couple has been arrested and charged with murder.
