Sat Dec 21 22:19:47 UTC 2024: ## Andhra Pradesh Drops Corruption Charges Against Retired IPS Officer
**Vijayawada, December 22, 2024** – The Andhra Pradesh government has dropped all disciplinary proceedings against retired IPS officer A.B. Venkateswara Rao, ending corruption allegations against him dating back to the YSR Congress Party’s tenure. A government order issued by Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad stated that further investigation would be unproductive, given the completed proceedings and lack of further evidence.
The inquiry found no financial loss to the state government, as funds involved in the alleged transaction were returned to the State Trading Corporation of India Limited, and the relevant tender was cancelled in December 2018. Furthermore, the investigation revealed no material benefit accrued to Mr. Venkateswara Rao or his son. While an inquiry report was submitted, the appropriate penalty remained unresolved until the decision to drop all charges.
