Sat Dec 21 07:02:11 UTC 2024: ## Engineering Students Dominate CAT 2024 Results; IIM Admission Process Underway

**Kolkata, India** – The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta released the results for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 on Thursday evening, revealing a strong showing by engineering students and male candidates. Of the fourteen students achieving a perfect 100 percentile score, thirteen were engineers, and thirteen were male. Only one female candidate achieved a perfect score.

IIMs will announce admission cutoffs and personal interview schedules in January 2025. Shortlisted candidates will be notified directly by each IIM in January based on CAT scores and institute-specific criteria. While a 90th percentile score is generally considered the minimum for top MBA programs, top IIMs (Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, and Kozhikode) maintain significantly higher cutoffs. Tier 2 and Tier 3 colleges typically have lower cutoffs, ranging from 70-80th percentile and 60-70th percentile respectively.

In a significant development, IIM Sambalpur announced it will independently conduct its admissions process for its flagship MBA program and the new MBA in Business Analytics (with a dual-degree option) starting in the 2025-26 academic year. Further details on specific IIM cutoffs from 2023 were not released in the announcement.
